RH: February 2009…Originally called SuperNova Ink. I am now known as Ryan Henry Tattoo.

GM: What or who was your inspiration to start your tattoo business? RH: I was in a barbershop, and a guy came in with a tattoo on his arm. This was in January 2009. I asked him how much did he pay for his tattoo and he said $80.00. Previously I worked for the railroad, and at the time I had been laid off. I was looking for another source of income. I then looked into the supplies and tattoo kits to learn about how tattoos are created. I started making inquiries and came across a Tattoo Apprenticeship program. I started the apprenticeship, and 3 weeks into it, after realizing I wasn’t really learning anything, I quit and decided to teach myself. My friends started letting me do tattoos on them, and they were coming out great. After 2 to 3 months into it, I started doing really well. While I was still learning, I was creating a large following of clients. I didn’t even hand out business cards or had any formal advertisements. The tattoos spoke for themselves… I was considered one of the top urban tattoo artists rather quickly.   Extremely determined to succeed I was working 25 hour shifts.

GM: Do you now use Social Media to advertise and display your tattoo work?
